COUNCIL 400 | Submission Fee

$15.00

Founded in 2010 to celebrate the impact of the African Diaspora on New York, Black Gotham Experience (BGX) is honored to present Council 400, a group exhibition commemorating the African Diaspora’s impact on the territory of New York City from 1624 to 2024.

Council 400 is a group exhibition that will take place at BGX Gallery in the Seaport, just a few blocks from Wall Street. This exhibition will anchor a conversation of ancestral memories that have been made obscure through colonization and enslavement. This is an invitation for scholars, creatives, and eclectic minds to meet and remember together; leaving a mark at this historic moment for future generations.

Artists

We are looking for artists working in all media and are not limited to the United States of America. Artists who live or can get to New York City will be welcome to join programs taking place on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays from October 9th to November 30th.

Suggestions

We are looking for work that explores themes of Black history in New York City from 1624 to 2024 as well as themes of the African Diaspora.
