BGX 2018 Gala "The Nerd Ball" (Don't Use)
Wednesday, May 30th | 7pm - 10pm
A special night with Black Gotham Experience featuring live music, a history-inspired dinner, libations, a special storytelling experience, and an after party.
We had an amazing 2017 that featured a large-scale public art display in the Financial District, the launch of our studio space in the Seaport District and speaking engagements across the country. With your support we will continue to build in 2018, publishing additional chapters of our graphic novel, produce our next walking tour experience "Citizen Hope", and develop additional programming that celebrates the impact of the African Diaspora on New York City.

Established in 2010 by artist/historian Kamau Ware, Black Gotham Experience is an immersive visual storytelling project that celebrates the impact of the African Diaspora on New York City since 1625. Our mission is to reimagine the histories of the places directly impacted by the African Diaspora as human stories. We explore these stories through interactive walking tours, a developing series of photography-based graphic novels, and a web series, weaving together art, research, fashion and entertainment. The heart of this experience are three stories that revisit Manhattan in 1625 and move forward through three centuries: Other Side of Wall Street, Caesar’s Rebellion, and Citizen Hope.
