BGX Gallery
192 Front Street NY, NY 10038
January 23-28, 2026
BGX Homecoming will be three culminating events to mark the sunset of our gallery in the Seaport after nearly 9 years. What is a homecoming? It is a time for people to return to a common place of connection. For our friends, members, supporters, and future friends, we invite you to reflect on our time celebrating the impact of the African Diaspora on New York City. The gallery will be open Friday and Saturday 12pm to 7pm for the final weekend of our current exhibition Crowned by Tradition featuring 13 resonant photographs by Mama Tradition.
January 23 | Friday evening, our brother Jahmedicine will set the tone, spinning from 6pm - 10pm. During the day will be an Open House to share and record stories.
January 24 | Saturday evening is the closing reception of Crowned by Tradition that we will be graced with the presence of the artist Mama Tradition. Our Nerdy Thursdays resident DJino will keep the vibes going from 6pm - 10pm.
January 28 | Wednesday evening we’ll have our Sunset Dinner from 5pm - 9pm. Open tea bar and signature cocktails for the first hour. Jahmedicine returns to close us out with the soundscape.
BGX Gallery is located in Manhattan's Seaport District between Fulton Street and John Street. Train Access: A, C, 2, 3, 4, 5, J, or Z to Fulton Street

BGX Gallery is a project of Black Gotham Experience (BGX). Black Gotham Experience is a creative intervention that elevates the impact of the African Diaspora. We establish space to revisit untold and suppressed stories through a practice that invites people to walk, talk, and reimagine the past to expand public consciousness. We know that history is not an unbiased collection of records but a cycle of events that we participate in collectively. We are creatives building intentional experiences at the intersection of aesthetics and scholarship to learn, heal, and remember together.
