TRAJET is French for PATH. This exhibition is the first by Kadiatou Coulibaly and the second in a series of collaborations by artist Kamau Ware. TRAJET explores pathways of healing, creating, and making boundaries while in motion. In essence, TRAJET is a memoir on navigation - traversing countries, languages, and identity.

Kadiatou was born in Mali and grew up in Gabon, then moved to New York City in 2010. Her work has evolved from representing her Bambara background and upbringing in Gabon to reflecting her experiences as an African immigrant in the United States.
Kamau was born and raised in Pittsburgh, PA and moved to New York City in 2006 to be closer to his son. He started Black Gotham Experience in 2010 to use his love of history and art to illustrate the impact of the African Diaspora on New York City.
Kadiatou and Kamau met at the Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture at the 6th Annual Black Comic Book Festival in 2018. This is their first exhibition as a couple.
